Furthermore, these special creatures are among the easiest and most adjustable in their living situations - even tiny apartments are usually enough to house them. Their ideal pet status is cemented by the fact that they show affection easily, adore play, and are very loyal.

You will more than likely not purchase any type of pedigree, because most cats are derived from multiple breeds. Due to both the high price of purebreds and the fact that there is no real advantage to keeping a purebred cat over a mixed breed, it is estimate that no more than 3 percent of domestics felines are purebred. Around the world, there are now just over one hundred purebred cats that have been identified.

There are a bulk of differences between breeds, some of which include body size, body shape, coat length, coat color, eye color, and personality. The short hairs and the long hairs comprise the major categories that cats are grouped in. The most common out of the two being short hair varieties.

Cats with long hair have greater grooming needs and are more susceptible to hairballs. Cuts are harder to care for with a long hair, and fleas are harder to get rid of.
